17th Meeting of China-Mongolia Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held

On the morning of October 27, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Minister Ch. Khurelbaatar of Economy and Development of Mongolia co-chaired the 17th meeting of China-Mongolia Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation via video link and had an in-depth exchange of views on implementing the important agreement reached by leaders on trade and economic fronts and promoting development of the bilateral commercial relations. Assistant Minister Li Fei attended the meeting.

The just-concluded 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is a success, which makes strategic arrangements for building China into a modern socialist country in all respects, said Wang Wentao. China’s further development will bring new opportunities for not just China but also the rest of the world including Mongolia. Over the past few years, China-Mongolia trade and economic relations have grown rapidly and delivered fruitful results thanks to the strategic guidance and personal commitment of Chinese and Mongolian leaders. China is ready to work with Mongolia to better dovetail the Belt and Road Initiative with the Steppe Road program, expand bilateral trade, further deepen investment cooperation, and step up business cooperation at sub-national level so as to scale new heights in China-Mongolia trade and economic relations.

Ch. Khurelbaatar expressed his sincere congratulations on the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress, highlighting its significance to the development of China-Mongolia relations and global prosperity and development. Despite the lingering pandemic, China-Mongolia trade and economic cooperation has maintained a good momentum, which Mongolia greatly appreciates. Mongolia stands ready to work with China to strengthen the connection of development strategies, jointly ensure unimpeded trade at the borders, enhance trade and investment cooperation on such sectors as energy, minerals, agriculture and husbandry, advance cooperation on connectivity and key projects, and push forward with the construction of the Zamiin-Uud Erenhot Economic Cooperation Zone in a bid to further promote the bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Representatives from relevant ministries, embassies and local governments of China and Mongolia attended the meeting.
